Derrick Rose showed semblances of the firm that allowed him to cop the NBA MVP back in 2011, pouring in 29 points to help the Bulls fend off the Thunder on Thursday.

His performance comes a day after detractors were having a field day on whether he would still be a need in the Bulls rotation or not. Apparently a lot of the talk stems from the fact that Rose has not been showing his value lately, leading to many that it may not be long until the Bulls decide to part ways with the former NBA MVP.

Of course, one game doesn’t change what critics think. Hence, while the 29-point performance was something to cheer about, it remains that Rose will have to churn out consistent and recurring performances to wash away all the negative vibes on whether he still has the jets that the Bulls would benefit from.

Until that performance, Rose was believed to be struggling apparently due to sight problems. He had mentioned having double-vision problems even before the NBA regular season started but it seems that D-Rose has made the necessary adjustments to buckle down to work.

Anthony Davis' MVP Run Might Already Be Over

The win comes after the Bulls got routed by the Hornets, 130-105.

"That game was embarrassing a little bit," Rose said after Thursday's win. "Looking at film after it happened, we were frustrated. We felt like we let each other down. After the way we practiced yesterday, we could tell we got that competitive spirit again."

With the season still young, trade talks involving Rose are considered a bit premature. But in order for Rose to silence critics, similar or perhaps better performances will be needed from here on.
