Derrick Rose continues to be on the hot seat these days and while the one-time NBA MVP has been known to keep quiet and let his performance on the court do the talking critics continue to bare their thoughts on what the future holds for the Chicago Bulls star guard.

This is not the first time that word about Rose and the Bulls likely to part. It was a point raised when Rose had been consecutively hit by knee injuries and further heightened with the sudden rise of Jimmy Butler.

The Warriors Are Off To The Best Offensive Start In NBA History

From the playoffs all the way to the preseason, rumors were flying that Rose and Butler just couldn’t get along despite both saying that there was no rift whatsoever.

But as far as ESPN analyst and credible reporter Brian Windhorst is concerned, a looming breakup lies on the horizon. In fact, he believes that an eventual breakup could take any time from now and not necessarily in 2017 when D-Rose’s contract expires.

Jeremy Lin Confirms Playing In Charlotte Is Better Than Big Cities

He points out that the Bulls may have done their part in partnering Rose with reliable players through the years. And apparently he points out that the Bulls have managed to exist even without Rose in the lineup, citing the years when Rose was ruled out for the season due to his troublesome knees.

Rose is of course back this year though he is battling some sight problems tied up with that freak accident he suffered back in the offseason. Be as it may, his presence has hardly made a difference for the Bulls despite a deeper supporting cast which poses the question on whether the team could go forward even without the star guard.

Head coach Fred Hoiberg did point out in the offseason that Rose was someone who made a difference. He pushes the ball better which allows the Bulls to properly set up their offense.

As far as production is concerned, Rose is not as offensive-minded as before which many believe is fine considering the teammates he has by his side. But is Rose really being more of a team player or simply holding out?

With a slight handicap, it is understandable that Rose has not been putting up the numbers. But that leads us once again to the question on whether Rose will be of at least the same value he is right now once his contract ends in 2017.

The Bulls are likely to offer him something smaller, emphasizing on the spate of injuries his body has endured. And from all indications, Rose may opt to look at the market to see how much he would be worth to other teams.

There is a chance that Rose will be handed a new multi-million contract though a lot depends on his level of play in the coming years. If he stays off the injury list and recalls the deadly form that made him MVP at one point, other teams are likely to dangle him a lucrative contract which the Bulls may or may not opt to match or improve on.
