The buildup to the anticipated Nonito Donaire-VicDarchinyan rematch on November 9 has begun with the former IBF/IBO flyweight champion Darchinyan proclaiming that he "will destroy" the Filipino Flash who upset him six years ago.

The Armenian, a three-time world champion, was shocked in 2007 by an unknown Donaire with a stunning fifth-round knockout to yield the IBF and IBO flyweight titles.

"Six years ago I lost to Nonito Donaire. Nobody knew about him then. I made him, I'm gonna break him," he told PhilBoxing.com.

Donaire is seeking retribution as well, having lost a shocking decision to former two-time Olympic gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux last April 13 at New York's Radio City Music Hall. His reply to his archrival was equally menacing: "If you say you will destroy me, I say likewise. I will destroy you tenfold."

The rivals are set to meet in a 10-round rematch at 126 pounds. The Armenian was hesitant at fighting the Filipino in the said weight and instead wanted a catch-weight of 123-124.

Donaire is being trained by 2012 "Trainer of the Year" Robert Garcia. The two met up in Las Vegas last week to discuss plans about the boxer's preparation. Donaire will be traveling to Oxnard, California to train in Garcia's gym and begin his road to redemption.

The rematch is part of a tripleheader to be held at The American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. Also featured in the card is RING featherweight champ Mikey Garcia against defending WBO junior lightweight champion Roman Martinez.
