For the first time in 30 years, the Royals are set to march in a parade to celebrate their World Series victory.

After a crippling loss in the Fall Classic last season -- which included a Game 7 defeat at Kauffman Stadium - the Royals are the 2015 World Series champions. The road through the playoffs was a challenging one for Kansas City.

The Royals defeated the Astros in a do-or-die Game 5 in the ALDS, ousted the Blue Jays in six games in the ALCS and then won their first World Series title since 1985 by defeating the Mets in five games after mounting thrilling comebacks throughout the Fall Classic.

Now, it's time to celebrate.

And the fans are ready to join in on the party as several counties around Kansas City canceled school after figuring no one would show up anyway, according to MLB.com.

The Royals defeated the Mets, 7-2, in Game 5 Sunday at Citi Field in 12 innings and while the partying began in Queens, it's now time for Kansas City to have its turn.

"The parade route begins at Grand Boulevard between the Sprint Center and the Kansas City Power & Light District. It will continue north along Ninth Street then it turns east to Oak, then goes south to Truman, then west back to Grand and continues to Pershing Road."
