Three former NBA players headlined the 2015 NBA D-League Draft picks, each hoping to get a call to get back up to the main ranks this season.

Headlining the cast was Jeff Ayres, someone who played for the Spurs last season. The power forward played in just 51 games with not so impressive numbers, but he gets the chance to work on that with the Idaho Stampede.

Not far behind is Jimmer Fredette who was selected at second. Incidentally, he too was cut from the Spurs and he now hopes to gain the interest of other NBA clubs as well with the Westchester Knicks.

Fredette actually drew interest from the Knicks, though he may have to do it the long way through the Knicks' affiliate ballclub.

Fredette was the 10th overall pick in 2012 by the Kings, where he spent two seasons. He has since become a journeyman and his search for a new team that could put him to good use continues. If he stands out, it may not be long before he gets elevated to the Knicks' main roster.

Perry Jones, another 2012 NBA Draft pick, finds himself back in the D-League after a previous stint with the Tulsa 66ers. He was selected third by the Iowa Energy.

He played three years for the Thunder, but had limited opportunities to shine. He tried to hook up with the Celtics, but was eventually waived after the preseason.

Jones will now try to work on his game and hopefully improve with the Energy.

The three headlined a cast of 106 players who were selected by the 19 participating teams in the league.
