For some reason, Derek Jeter is keeping his engagement to smokin' hot model girlfriend Hannah Davis under wraps -- or at least he's trying to.
The world's worst kept secret got out Sunday as multiple media outlets dropped the bombshell of the former Yankees shortstop and captain proposing to Davis, who rose to fame as a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. Jeter has always been private about his personal life, but he skipped a DuJour Magazine celebration Wednesday, which was a party for the inaugural issue of Gamechangers.
The five-time World Series champion skipped the party, likely because he wanted to avoid answering questions about his engagement to Davis, according to the New York Post's Page Six.
Where'd he go instead? Jeter was seen dining alongside former Mets and Yankees great Darryl Strawberry at the Hunt & Fish club, which is just 10 blocks away from the location of his canceled appearance, the publication reports.

Per the eyewitness account, the two baseball icons didn't even watch the Mets play in World Series Game 2, which they lost 7-1.
Jeter is set to be on one of the covers of the inaugural Gamechangers issue, which also has depicts Katie Couric, Instagram star The Fat Jew and Airbnb's Brian Chesky on the front of the magazine.
Jeter's engagement to Davis leaked out on Sunday and it was revealed he asked her parents for permission to request her hand in marriage prior to dropping down on one knee. When he skipped the appearance Wednesday, it was believed that the 14-time All-Star was on a getaway with the model, however he turned up in Midtown.
The 41-year-old retired MLB player is the Yankees all-time hits leader with 3,465 knocks, but his hits kept coming off the field as well. Jeter has been romantically linked to such bombshells as Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Mariah Carey, Scarlett Johansson and Minka Kelly in the past, just to name a few.
But something about Davis -- likely many things -- convinced Jeter that the time was right to settle down.
He's just not ready to go public with it yet, apparently.
