Ronda Rousey is now the UFC’s most prominent fighter, so she should expect some tough questions. On a recent media call, she was unable to even handle a softball.

Rousey is dating fellow fighter Travis Browne, a heavyweight who has been accused by his estranged wife of domestic violence. A reporter on the media did not ask about that, but Rousey hung up anyway, and never came back.

Here’s the question that enraged the women’s bantamweight champ (h/t BlackSportsOnline.com).

“Ronda, I know you’re trying to focus and only speak about stuff that’s happening inside the octagon, training and all that, but recently Travis Browne announced that you guys were in a relationship. Were you okay with him announcing that? Were you cool with that?”

Ronda Rousey Is UFC's Most Drug-Tested Fighter

There could be an ulterior motive. What Rousey did is straight out of the playbook of a WWE heel. Perhaps Rousey is practicing her heel chops for a shift into WWE? It’s well-known she’s a fan, and she locked Stephanie McMahon in an armbar at WrestleMania alongside The Rock.

Rousey’s relationship with Browne is bringing out heelish tendencies. She has been extremely outspoken about boxer Floyd Mayweather’s repeated allegations of domestic violence, but completely clams up about Browne’s. Here’s Rousey at the ESPYs ragging on Mayweather after beating him out for Fighter of the Year.

But, she’s got nothing on these photos, uploaded onto Instagram from Browne’s wife.

“I don’t talk about my personal life much. That’s why it’s called ‘personal life,'” Rousey told ESPN in a statement. “It’s true that Travis and I are in a relationship. I’ve really enjoyed the time we have spent together and getting to know one another. And that’s all I’m going to say about it.”

It’s a hard thing to discuss, and maybe Rousey doesn’t believe Browne did that to his wife, or he’s a changed man if he did. While she’s right about it being her personal life, she has chosen to take a strong stance against domestic violence, so if she’s going to date someone accused of it, she shouldn’t be surprised about being asked questions.
