Gennady Golovkin will be among the eager watchers come November 21 when Miguel Cotto and Canelo face off. Apparently this is because he believes that his next opponent will be the winner between the two.

However a recent report from Boxing Scene seems to signal otherwise.

Conor McGregor, Cody Garbrandt Involved In Wild Altercation

Per the report, it seems that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has his eye on the winner and the one coming out on top could end up facing the winner of another fight happening this November 7. That fight is between Timothy Bradley Jr. and Brandon Rios.

With all the buzz going around, it seems Golovkin is nowhere to be found. It would be foolish not to say that any fighter doesn’t want to confront the Kazakh destroyer, but such is the obvious case.

Top Rank Promoter Uneasy Pitting Manny Pacquiao Against Canelo Alvarez

An issue that could crop up here is the catchweight difference. Alvarez and Cotto will be slugging it out at 155 lbs., while the Bradley-Rios tussle is set at 147.

Doing the match would mean that either Alvarez or Cotto will have to move down to the 147 lbs. mark or Bradley/Rios will move up. Somehow the scenarios don’t mix and such is likely to be an issue.

Alvarez has already said before the he will not give in to catchweight clauses, while Rios is not too keen on moving up the weight level.

Given these scenarios, the plans of Arum and Rios’ trainer Robert Garcia may not make sense at all and in the end, and the winner may face Golovkin whether he likes it or not.

Besides, Golovkin has been named as the mandatory challenger by the WBC. So if Cotto or Alvarez doesn’t face Triple G, would the one with the belt at the end of November 21 opt to vacate the title instead?
