**UPDATE: Joseph Randle is also facing discipline from the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy regarding his arrest for possession of marijuana. Police had responded to a domestic violence call.

Joseph Randle’s status for Sunday’s game vs. the Seahawks is unclear, but whether he can suit up or not, Darren McFadden will be the starting running back for the Cowboys. That rubbed him the wrong way, apparently, because he left the team’s facilities yesterday without permission.

According to the Dallas Morning News Randle “left abruptly” in the middle of a practice session, and was nowhere to be found when it was time for a scheduled treatment for his strained oblique. “Multiple sources said Randle left Valley Ranch to meet with people he trusted to help him clear his head and talk through what happened.”

Greg Hardy Receives A Scolding From Brandon Marshall

Randle, who in the offseason said he thought DeMarco Murray “left a lot of meat on the bone” last season despite leading the NFL in carries and rushing yards, has been pedestrian in his opportunity as the starter. He has averaged 4.1 yards per carry as the dominant back in Dallas’ committee, but hasn’t topped 87 yards in any game, and scored in just two of the Cowboys’ six tilts.

Randle was not a presence on third down, which belonged to Lance Dunbar, and became McFadden’s role once Dunbar hurt his knee. There was talk of Randle losing the gig to Christine Michael heading into their bye week, but instead McFadden stole the show vs. the Giants last week, rushing for more than 150 yards and a touchdown.

Christine Michael's Fantasy Owners Must Stay Patient

Now, the Cowboys have to figure out how to deal with Randle’s outburst; Randle was also arrested twice since last fall, and accused of domestic violence. On top of that, they are still dealing with Greg Hardy’s sideline outburst, and continued inability to not embarrass himself and the franchise on camera.

Between Randle’s actions and Hardy’s volatile shoving meltdown, the Cowboys are displaying an utter lack of institutional control. They remain within striking distance of the NFC East lead, but until the roster is in lockstep, this team will continue to flounder.
