Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has apologized to Oscar De La Hoya for a post he made on his Instagram account that made fun of the latter's time in a treatment facility.

Yahoo! Sports reports that the photo showed De La Hoya with the headline "MEANWHILE IN REHAB." The captions on the photo read as "OSCAR: I gave Canelo the wrong blueprint I was high."

Mayweather, who won a majority decision over Mexico's Canelo Alvarez over the weekend at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, said that he did not post the photo, nor authorize anyone to post the picture.

In a statement released by his publicist to the media, Mayweather said that he completely supports his promoter and his family during the former's time in rehabilitation. "Although we have had our differences in the past, I stand by him unconditionally and would never personally disrespect him or anyone else who struggles with addiction," he added.

"I also apologize to all of my followers for this ridiculous post. I have no ill-will towards anyone and have repeatedly stated that I only seek positivity in my life and for others," Mayweather said in his statement.

After winning the fight against Alvarez, Mayweather called De La Hoya a champion and expressed his support to the former rival's recovery.

De La Hoya admitted himself into an undisclosed rehabilitation facility a few days before the Mayweather-Alvarez bout to treat his drug and alcohol problems.

Mayweather and De La Hoya have had an up-and-down relationship. The world's best boxer has been critical of his former rival's lifestyle. Interestingly, the two boxers headlined the richest boxing bout in history in 2007 which Mayweather won.
