The Pittsburgh Steelers had promoted 23-year-old quarterback and wide receiver Tyler Murphy from the team practice. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport had reported Murphy would have backed up Landry Jones, which lucidly suggests that Ben Roethlisberger or 'Big Ben' would sit, according to the official NFL website,

With regard to injury report, Big Ben's knee injury was listed as questionable on the injury report while the 35-year-old quarterback Michael Vick was out due to his hamstring injury, according to ESPN. Meanwhile, cornerback Cortez Allen had been placed on injured reserve due to his knee issue, which had made room for Murphy. The defensive had missed five games in the first week due to the said injury.

The official website of the Steelers had also showed that Murphy had been listed as a receiver; however, he had played as a quarterback back in college. After Bruce Gradkowski's injury in the earlier part of the year, Murphy had also been placed to reshuffling list. This week, Murphy had run the scout team in their practice match-ups.

Aside from Roethlisberger, Murphy, Vick, and Allen, the Steelers roster also includes running back Le'Veoin Bell and DeAngelo Williams, wide receiver Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton, and Martavis Bryant, linebacker Alvin Dupree and James Harrison, center Maurkice Pouncey, and safety Will Allen, among others.
