The Royals look to clinch their second straight trip to the World Series, while the Blue Jays hope to force a Game 7 when these teams take the field Friday night.

Johnny Cueto Making Excuses For Poor Performance

After Kansas City took a 3-1 series lead, Toronto was able to take Game 5, 7-1, to assure that they didn't get eliminated at home. Now, the series shifts back to Kauffman Stadium, where the Royals took Games 1 and 2.

David Price (18-5, 2.45 ERA) takes the ball for the Blue Jays, while the Royals counter with Yordano Ventura (13-8, 4.08). The winner of this series will host the Mets in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday.

Things To Know

--Price (1-2, 7.02) is looking to exorcise postseason demons as he is 0-7 all-time as a starter in the playoffs. He tossed six scoreless innings in Game 2 before yielding a five-run seventh. Ventura (0-1, 6.57) took a no-decision in Game 2, allowing three runs in 5.1 innings, and the Royals are 6-1 in his seven career postseason starts.

--The Royals were 51-30 at home in the regular season and their spacious ballpark has bewildered the Blue Jays blistering lineup in this series. Toronto has won four straight elimination games, including Game 5 of this series and Games 3, 4 and 5 in the first round after falling behind to the Rangers, 2-0.

--After suffering through a 28-year postseason drought, the Royals broke it last year and went to the World Series. Now, they have two chances to get back into the Fall Classic. The Blue Jays haven't played in the World Series since winning it all in 1993 and they face a historical disadvantage. According to MLB.com, teams with a 3-1 best-of-seven series advantage have won 67 of 79 times.
