The names Manning, Brady and others bring a lot of positive thoughts to mind, but none of them have to do with speed.

Tom Brady To Torture Jets For 10 More Years

It's amazing, really, to see how many top-notch athletes and potential future Hall of Famers run as though they have led in their cleats. These are five-star athletes who can do it all, yet couldn't run well if their lives depended on it.

Here are some of the top slow athletes in sports.

Peyton Manning Needs To Hang It Up

1) Dirk Nowitzki

The Mavericks star was the 2011 NBA Finals MVP, but his speed didn't contribute one iota to his success. To his credit, Nowitzki takes his lack of ability to hustle and bustle in stride, happily debating teammates about his tempo.

2) Peyton Manning

Speaking of the future Hall of Famer, as Nowitzki points out, he's no speed demon either. Manning will undoubtedly end up in the Hall of Fame someday, but damn is he slow. The Super Bowl XLI champion may have somehow managed a 4.8 second 40-yard dash, but the 39-year-old has no chance of ever replicating that number again. We still believe he rigged it.

3) Eli Manning

Slow-footedness apparently runs in the Manning family because the Giants signal caller ain't much better when it comes to legging it out. Sure, when pressed, you'd pick Eli over his older brother in a foot race, but you may fall asleep by the time either one reached the finish line.

4) Billy Butler

Sure, he's not the Hall of Fame caliber player that the previous three on this list are, but damn, he slow. Nicknamed "Country Breakfast," Butler is lucky he has hit 142 homers in his career because he was able to take his time running them out. Butler, however, did leg out a triple.

5) Tom Brady

Married to a model? Check. Future Hall of Famer? Check. Four-time Super Bowl champion. Check. Fast? Ehh... Brady ran a 5:28 (!!!) in the 40-yard dash. You may have won at life, Mr. Brady, but damn are you slow.
