The Los Angeles Lakers had high hopes for Jordan Clarkson for the coming NBA wars but it seems that bad luck has already struck even before the games have begun.

The sophomore guard injured his shoulder in the second quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors which the latter won by a mile, 136-97.

According to Mike Trudell via Twitter, Clarkson felt a sharp pain in his shoulder at the time. He is set to undergo an MRI this Friday.

"It was like a really sharp pain," said Clarkson, who added that he didn't know exactly when or how the injury occurred. "I think it’s minor, but I guess we’ll see [Friday]."

"[Vitti] basically told me [Clarkson's shoulder] came out and went back in, whatever that means," Scott said.

Depending on the results of the MRI test, Clarkson could be ruled out for the Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 28.

Clarkson has been showing big improvements since the NBA Summer League up to the preseason. His absence could be costly for the Lakers who are hoping to start out things on the right foot after two forgettable seasons.

Should Clarkson be ruled out for the opener, D’Angelo Russell could be playing a lot of the point guard position while the off guard role could be spread even on Kobe Bryant, Nick Young or Lou Williams.

Bryant sat out the rest of the Lakers preseason assignments with a bruised left leg, but is expected to be ready by opening night against the T-Wolves.
