Marcus Gilchrist is going to have to learn the hard way on Sunday. As the Jets prepare to battle Tom Brady at Gillette Stadium, the free safety admitted there are no extra precautions in place.

The Jets Can't Even Beat The Patriots On Twitter

“You prepare the same way you prepare for Kirk Cousins,” Gilchrist said, per USA Today. “You don’t change. It’s like turning the light switch on and off because it’s a different person. Kirk Cousins could have easily come out there [last week] and we could’ve not played sound football and not been where we were supposed to be and he could’ve looked the same way [like Brady].

“Do we realize the type of player we’re playing against? Yes, we do, but you don’t change.”

Tom Brady Is Scared To Face Darrelle Revis

Gilchrist -- to a certain extent -- is 100 percent correct. You don’t change as you prepare to face Tom Brady.

You pray.

You ensure your finances are in order, so as not to leave your family embedded in debt. You repent your sins, so that there may come seasons of refreshing from the presence of a higher power. You see to it that your will is up to date and bequeath your personal belongings to the proper parties.

And most importantly of all, you tell your wife you love her and that she’s not allowed to remarry...because this is Tom Brady.

This is the same Tom Brady that’s won seven of his last eight games against the Jets. The same Tom Brady who -- even though he managed to win his fourth Super Bowl -- is walking around New England with a Foxborough-sized chip on his shoulder.

Based on the principle of adapting to your opponent alone you should prepare differently.

But like many slain on the gridiron before him, Gilchrist will learn the hard way.
