The UFC made a major announcement for UFC 195 involving Andre Arlovksi and Stipe Miocic -- announcing that it will be a co-event alongside the Carlos Condit-Robbie Lawler bout in Las Vegas on Jan. 2

For those that have been keeping tabs on Miocic, the announcement may come as a bit of a surprise --the 33-year-old Croatian was recently in the headlines after pulling out of his scheduled bout against Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 76 in Dublin, Ireland.

ESPN reported on Oct. 24, that Miocic had been battling an undisclosed injury -- leaving Rothwell without a replacement opponent.

Being that Rothwell currently finds himself without a matchup, there are some who feel he should get the nod to go up against Arlovski over Miocic. While Miocic's injury woes are a bit of a concern, UFC 195 is still a long way off.

Why was Rothwell not given the bout? The undefinitive safe answer would be the rankings game. Miocic is ranked 3rd in the UFC heavyweight rankings while Arlovski is no. 4.

Rothwell is aching to fight and went as far as begging to take on Arlovski -- as well as Matt Mitrionei via Twitter.
