The Mets seek their first World Series berth in 15 years, while the Cubs hope to keep their postseason alive when these teams clash in NLCS Game 4.

Cubs May Get Eliminated On 'Back To The Future' Day

Things To Know

--Matz has never faced the Cubs and he is coming off of his playoff debut where he gave up three runs in five innings against the Dodgers in NLDS Game 4. Hammel looks to help the Cubs begin their quest to become just the second team to ever claw their way out of a 3-0 hole in a best-of-seven series. He also pitched Game 4 of the NLDS, allowing two runs, three hits and three walks in three innings against the Cardinals.

--Daniel Murphy continued his torrid pace in Game 3, hitting a homer for the fifth straight playoff game, a Mets record, and going deep for the sixth time in the playoffs. The second baseman is hitting .417/.462/1.167 this series. New York took advantage of some sloppy Chicago defense to win Tuesday's contest.

--Though not much went right for the Cubs Tuesday, they did get solo homers from Kyle Schwarber and Jorge Soler. The club needs to get young power hitters Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant going as they are a combined 4-for-21 in the series.
