Oscar Pistorius received his early release two months late.

The Olympic and Paralympic sprinter ducked out of Kgosi Mampuru II prison on Monday night to begin serving the remainder of his five-year sentence under house arrest, several hours before his scheduled release, according to The Guardian.

Parole Review Board Finally Grants Oscar Pistorius Release To House Arrest

"The decision to move him from the prison a day early -- to avoid a media circus on Tuesday morning -- was made by the management of Kgosi Mampuru II prison, the department of correctional services said in a statement," The Guardian reported.

"Oscar Pistorius was placed under correctional supervision tonight," the statement read. "The handling of the actual placement is an operational matter of the local management, and how they handle it is their prerogative that is carried out in the best interest of all parties concerned, the victims, the offender and the department of correctional services."

Oscar Pistorius Family Accuses Parole Review Board Of Subverting Justice

Pistorius was convicted last October of culpable homicide in the Valentine's Day shooting death of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius served one year of a five-year sentence.

"He will reside at his Uncle Arnold's Waterkloof mansion in Pretoria," South Africa's Eyewitness News reported.

Justice minister Michael Masutha, who blocked Pistorius' scheduled release on Aug. 21, said that terms of the "Blade Runner's" release includes a requirement that he meet with June and Barry Steenkamp, Reeva's mother and father, if and when they agree to see him, The Guardian added.

"It is especially the person who is the source of your pain, who making peace with is likely to bring the greatest healing," said Masutha.

The Steenkamp's family lawyer says they are willing to meet with Pistorius as long as it's out of the public eye and they get to determine the proper time, ENCA.com reported.

Pistorius' legal issues, however, are far from over. He is due back in court on Nov. 3 as the state will appeal his culpable homicide conviction as they seek to earn a murder conviction before the South Africa Court of Appeals.

If Pistorius is convicted of murder, he will serve a minimum of 15 years in prison.
