It didn't seem so far-fetched, the Serena Williams-Drake engagement.
But tabloid reports that the rap star popped the question have been refuted. Now comes a report that Drake and Serena aren't even dating.
Serena Williams, Drake Spotted Engaging In Second Public Kiss
"A source close to the couple told E! News Drake and Williams are not even dating-and never did," according to the website.
"They are friends and nothing more," the source added.
Serena Williams Responds To Drake Calling Another Woman 'Bae'
That is quite a bombshell on a relationship that reportedly went public in Cincinnati at a hotel restaurant when TMZ Sports reported the two were spotted "making out" and posted photos of the scene.
One person, however, posted a comment to another E! News report saying that report was inaccurate.
"I was sitting a table away. They were friendly, but "making out" is a big exaggeration," a poster named Rachel Peters said in the comment. "She was wearing sweat pants and a sports bra to a nice restaurant, which we all thought was funny."
But another fan reportedly stalked the couple in a parking garage outside a hotel/restaurant in New York when Serena was competing at the U.S. Open, showing the couple engaging in another quick kiss before leaving together.
And don't forget that it was Drake who escorted Williams away from the U.S. Open tennis facility after her semifinals loss to Roberta Vinci.
Recently, Drake was spotted with Vogue magazine editor-in-chief Anna Wintour at Serena's New York Fashion Week event, in which Drake posted a photo of Wintour and him sitting together on his Instagram account with the caption, "Me and bae" with a money bag emoji.
Williams responded to Drake's post with a pair of hand-waving emojis with most people inferring that Serena was making a playful comment to Drake not to call another woman his girlfriend when he already had one.
