There was nothing wrong with Jerry Jones' comments about Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady.

In the age of Antony and Cleopatra, that is.

Dallas Cowboys Ban Cameras From Practice To Prevent Patriots Cheating

The Cowboys owner professed ignorance as to why his comment about Bundchen's beauty defining the Patriots quarterback as an "outstanding individual," The Dallas Morning News reported.

"I can remember when they would talk about Richard and you'd say, 'I don't know about Richard Burton, but anybody good enough to be married to Elizabeth Taylor has got to be all right,'" Jones said. "Elizabeth Taylor made her life wanting people to say she was pretty. ... When you talked about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, you talked about how pretty she was. Nobody thought that you were being disrespectful of women or the workplace.

Jerry Jones Praises Tom Brady's Character Because His Wife Is Pretty

"Well, Tom just happens to be married to a lady that's absolutely one of the premier people in the world of working and making people say she's beautiful. Do you agree with me? That's what they do. They get up in the morning and go to bed at night having people say she's beautiful. So a lot of people when they talk about Tom Brady, they talk about how beautiful she is."

Taylor and Burton starred together in the 1963 film "Cleopatra," which won four Academy Awards and was nominated for five others, including best picture.

In 2015, however, judging a man's character and integrity strictly by his spouse's physical appearance arguably is insulting to both the husband and wife, not to mention all the other women deemed not as attractive as Bundchen.

Plus, Jones comments' came in response to those of defensive end Greg Hardy, who is coming off a four-game suspension as a result of a domestic violence charge against an ex-girlfriend.

Hardy tried to make some lighthearted comments about Dallas facing the Patriots, saying he hoped Bundchen was going to attend the game, as well as her sister. Unfortunately, those were the first comments from Hardy since returning from suspension and ended up sounding unapologetic over the consequences of his ban.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett seemed to understand when he told Hardy his comments about Bundchen and her sister were inappropriate in that setting.

Apparently, Jones never got that memo.
