CC Sabathia will spend an indefinite stint in rehab, and the Yankees don't appear willing to bet on him.
Firing Joe Girardi The Only Solution For The Yankees
There is expected to be real interest in free-agent right-hander Jeff Samardzija this offseason, per CBS Sports. The White Sox pitcher threw 214 innings this season, going 11-13 with a 4.96 ERA. Chicago will reportedly give Samardzija a qualifying offer, which he will in turn decline.
Yankees fans aren't exactly sold on the idea.
Don't Blame The Billy Goat For Your Team Sucking, Chicago

I will not be happy if the Yankees get Jeff Samardzija this offseason

It would be an awful move if @Yankees signed Samardzija. 4.96 era for him in 2015. #Yankees #MLB #Samardzija https://t.co/PEysJbbxUW

Um noooooo please stay away from signing Jeff Samardzija Yankees

Samardzija really Yankees? F-cking dude is overrated. We need a legit Ace until Severino is ready, not another number 3! Horrible man

Admittedly, the gripe from Yankees fans is understandable -- especially when the likes of David Price and Johnny Cueto may be available -- but there is a 50 percent luxury tax to consider.
A $30-million-a-year pitcher could balloon to $45 million in 2016.
As rich as the Yankees are, they're not blood-diamond rich.
