The former world No. 1 was in attendance to witness his national team’s greatest footballing moment in 30 years. A 1-0 victory over Greece ensured Northern Ireland qualified for the 2016 European Cup, their first major tournament since 1986.

“It’s incredible,” McIlroy said, per Sky Sports. “I haven’t been to Winter Park in a long time. To see the support the boys have out here and what they could do tonight [Thursday], it’s very special. It’s great to see all the country get behind them.”

With a berth secured, finding the time to visit France becomes one of the many priorities for McIlroy in 2016.

“We’re going to have a busy summer next year -- with obviously the majors and then the Olympics as well coming up -- so I’ll try,” he added. “I’ll try to get to France. I’ll try to get to any games that I can, but we’ll see.”

Just make sure you take Stoll with you if you do, McIlroy.
