Her tennis career success is off the charts compared to that of Anna Kournikova, but Caroline Wozniacki slowly is becoming more recognizable for being a celebrity than for her on-court success.

The current No. 11 player in the world suffered a blow in her attempt to earn a spot in the WTA Finals with a 6-2, 6-3 loss to Angelique Kerber in the third round of the China Open, Sports Mole reported.

The loss moves Wozniacki's 2015 record to 38-21, not horrible, but Rafael Nadal has taken significant criticism about his subpar 2015 and he has a 47-15 record entering the quarterfinals of the China Open.

Wozniacki has 23 career titles, compared to Kournikova's zero, and the Dane was No. 1 in the world from 2010-11. Kournikova reached a high of No. 8.

But Wozniacki's 2015 will go down as the year she became a swimsuit model for Sports Illustrated, rather than for anything she did on the court. Kournikova had a much more successful modeling career than she did a tennis career.

After her well-publicized breakup with former No. 1 men's golfer Rory McIlroy in the spring of 2014, Wozniacki fought back from heartbreak to become one of the top women's players at season's end as she reached the finals of both the U.S. Open and the WTA Finals.

In 2015, she did win one minor event in Malaysia in early March, but she is just 8-8 since Wimbledon. Meanwhile, she has made more news with her SI photo shoot, her off-court exploits with best friend Serena Williams, her tweets rooting for McIlroy rivals at major golf tournaments and brief fling with Texans defensive end J.J. Watt.

Wozniacki has struggled with leg injuries this season, which has contributed to her decline. But Wozniacki proved last year that she can play with the elite players, including Williams.

But at least in 2015, Wozniacki was more of a celebrity than a tennis player -- resembling Kournikova's career.
