The 2015-16 NBA season hasn’t even officially started, and all everyone wants to know is the future of LeBron James.

LeBron Makes Preseason Watchable With Selfies

The Cavs star signed a two-year deal in July, with a player option for the second year, per ESPN’s Chris Broussard. James will reportedly earn $22.97 million in 2015-16, and potentially $24 million should he opt in at season’s end.

But NBA broadcasts and TV shows alike want the drama, some going as far as placing James with other teams around the league.

LeBron Sends Cavs A Strong Message

No, not really, but there is one underlying issue that could keep James from opting in next summer.

Tristan Thompson’s contract negotiations have reached an impasse. Thompson is officially a holdout and there appears to be no end in sight, causing a bit of distraction in Cleveland.

"It's kind of like the elephant in the room all over, for everybody," James said after practice on Monday, per ESPN. "Hopefully some resolve can happen sooner than later. You know, obviously, we continue to say, I continue to say how his value to us is extreme, as we saw last year in the postseason, throughout the season.

“The last thing you need is a distraction when you try to make a championship run.”

Keep providing LeBron the wrong kind of distractions, Cleveland, you just might see him walk out a second time.
