We’re not saying Jake Arrieta is an unfit parent, but we’re also not not saying Jake Arrieta is an unfit parent.
The 29-year-old was stellar in the Cubs’ 4-0 victory over the Pirates on Wednesday. Nine innings of four-hit baseball and 11 strikeouts allowed those Loveable Losers to advance to the NLDS, where they will meet the Cardinals on Friday.

Tongue-in-cheek commentary aside, the glorification of alcohol in MLB feels a tad uncomfortable. Especially given Sabathia's current situation.
The Yankees pitcher was forced to step aside before the postseason due to an addiction to the substance.
“I love baseball,” Sabathia said in a statement released by the Yankees, per New York Times. “And I love my teammates like brothers, and I am also fully aware that I am leaving at a time when we should all be coming together for one last push toward the World Series.
“It hurts me deeply to do this now, but I owe it to myself and to my family to get myself right. I want to take control of my disease, and I want to be a better man, father and player.”
Won’t take much to be a better father, Sabathia. Just don’t let your children pour alcohol down your throat.
