As if subjecting the United Kingdom to the Jets and Dolphins wasn’t enough, the NFL announced on Wednesday that the league will extend the ability to play international regular-season games through 2025.

The initiative will broaden the NFL’s reach beyond the United Kingdom. Germany, Brazil and Mexico are among the countries the league has targeted.

NFL Plans For London-Based Team A Huge Mistake

“This marks an important step in our long-term international growth," said Roger Goodell, per NFL.com. "Fans in the UK have responded incredibly well to the regular-season games we have played in London since 2007. They have demanded more NFL games, and we have worked to accommodate them.

“We think it's time to expand our International Series to other countries and respond to the growing interest in our game not only in the UK, but elsewhere around the world."

Chivas Guadalajara More Popular Than The NFL

Just another indication that the NFL believes it can grow into the world’s game.

Except it can’t.

Grab the attention of X-amount of fans in Germany, the NFL will never receive the same welcome as Borussia Dortmund.

Force the Jaguars to face the Bills in Brazil, Sao Paulo will forget come Monday morning.

All the NFL would succeed in doing is infuriate the labor it owns.

Besides, there are better ways to grow the NFL across the globe. Subjecting other countries to watch Ryan Fitzpatrick and Ryan Tannehill in person isn’t one of them.
