Ask Bill Belichick about adversity, you’ll get one answer. Ask Bill Belichick about the potential regression of his QB, you’ll get one answer. Ask Bill Belichick about new issues surrounding his team, you’ll get one answer.

Patriots 16-0 Season Depends On Eli Manning

But ask Bill Belichick about the rules, and you’ll get a novel.

Rex Ryan Is Obsessed With Tom Brady

If there’s one thing the Patriots and Belichick enjoy, it’s the rules.

The organization’s understanding of what’s permissible and what’s not has been tested both on and off the field. Spygate was the first indicator in 2007. Deflategate only doubled down on that notion in 2015.

Even in the 2015 AFC Divisional round against the Ravens, Belichick deployed a legal formation that left John Harbaugh bewildered and befuddled.

Had he known the rules like his Patriots counterpart, however, he would’ve known to cover Michael Hoomanawanui instead of Shane Vereen.

“You’re allowed to do that,” he said following the game, per Boston Herald. “I don’t really understand what the question is. If you want to talk about the rules, you should talk to the NFL rules people about that.

“They’ll tell you about it."

Given Tuesday’s lengthy response, Harbaugh and company are better off receiving a crash course on the rules from Belichick himself. Clearly, he knows all.
