All offseason, the NFL pundits were in unison with their assessment of Ryan Tannehill. The four-year QB entered 2015 trending upward in every major statistical category under center.

Jon Gruden went as far as predicting the Dolphins would win the AFC East as a result.

Dan Marino, Don Shula Hint At Comeback

"This is year four of [coach] Joe Philbin, year four of Ryan Tannehill," Gruden said, per the Sun Sentinel. "It's time. I think the stars are aligned for Tannehill to bust through the door.

"I'm counting on Miami winning the East this year."

Ndamukong Suh Targets Tom Brady

All that trendy prognostication, forget it. Miami would be better off with a 54-year-old Dan Marino under center.

Finally, a pass Dolphins fans can appreciate without seeing it thrown to the opposing team. To be fair to Marino, the laces were out in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective." Ray Finkle just graduated from the "Scott Norwood School of FG Kicking."

But we digress.

For all his "upward trajectory," Tannehill has done little to improve his career 1.5:1 TD-INT ratio. The 27-year-old has three INTs to just five TDs in 2015.

His watershed moment comes this Sunday in London. The Dolphins travel across the pond to battle the Jets in a season-defining game.

Win, and the preseason prognostication will regain its momentum. Lose, and a 54-year-old, out-of-shape, past-his-prime QB would be worth considering.
