Chances are you are out of your survivor pool, but that’s okay, because confidence pools are season-long. These pools seem easy, but each week there are surprises that can sink your week.
For the uninitiated, here’s a quick overview of confidence pools. Players pick each game of the week, and assign “confidence” points to each one. So if you think the Patriots are a lock, they get 16 points, and so on. The weekly winner has the most points, not necessarily the most correct picks.
Here are three Week 4 games that may trip you up.
*Home teams in caps.
Packers at 49ERS
This one seems like a no-brainer, lock it in for 16 points type pick. And it may turn out that way. However, beware of the home underdog getting nine points. Aaron Rodgers has been a superhero this season, but the Packers’ defense is ranked dead last in the NFL against the run.
Why Julio Jones Is The Most Important Player In Fantasy Football
That means 49ers RB Carlos Hyde could have a huge game, and so could QB Colin Kaepernick, who has torched Green Bay before. The Packers are the obvious pick to win the game, even on the road, but maybe go slightly easier on the points.
Texans at FALCONS
The Falcons are 3-0 and WR Julio Jones looks like he would need to be covered by one of the Avengers. But that doesn’t mean you should rule out the Texans. The Falcons could have lost all three of their games, and they have had schedule gifts.
What gifts? How about facing the Cowboys in Dallas when they didn’t have Tony Romo, Dez Bryant or two of their best defensive players? How about opening the season against two NFC East opponents when that now looks like one of the weakest divisions in football?
Atlanta is a good team, but they might not be THIS good, and 4-0 in the NFL is rare.
Panthers at BUCCANEERS
The Panthers are also 3-0, despite losing their No. 1 WR Kelvin Benjamin in the preseason and trotting out a pass-catching corps led by a tight end, Greg Olsen. Cam Newton has played like Superman this year, while the defense has been stellar.
This is why you must be wary of this game. The Bucs are 1-2 and don’t look like much, but there are weapons all over the place for Jameis Winston, who is making small strides each week. The Panthers are a road favorite, and they, like the Falcons, have benefitted from an easy schedule. Beware!
