Notre Dame defensive tackle Jay Hayes is clearly unsatisfied with his role on the Fighting Irish, and vented about it on Twitter. Obviously, he did not realize just how expendable he is to head coach Brian Kelly.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, Hayes wrote "When a coach stops coaching you..that's when you jus gotta move on. Gotta get this natty [national title] and I'm out,” per ESPN. And now he is not travelling with the team to their next game.

Kelly did not make up a reason to hide why Hayes is being left behind. Instead, he’s using the opportunity to teach Hayes a life lesson—stay off social media with gripes about your superiors.

"You have to think before you hit send, and what you have to do is knock on my door instead of hitting the send button," Kelly said. "If he has a job at Google and talks about his boss that way, he probably is not going to have a job the next day.

"You just tell them, 'Look, you need to make a better decision next time or it's going to impact you when you leave here.' He won't be on the travel roster this week for that mistake."

Hayes made just one tackle this year, and has no stats this season. Notre Dame is 3-0 with the 34th-ranked defense in the nation in terms of points against (17.3), so Hayes probably won’t be missed.
