The Clippers may be gaining a new archrival that has nothing to do with their attempt to win an NBA title, thanks to center DeAndre Jordan.

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban appeared on Colin Cowherd's new radio program on Fox Sports and took a shot at Los Angeles coach Doc Rivers, CBS Sports reported.

During the NBA free agency period over the summer, Jordan originally committed to signing a free-agent contract with Dallas, only to have a change of heart a couple days later and rejoin the Clippers.

Cowherd stirred the pot a bit by showing Cuban a clip of what Rivers had said about how he thought the owner handled -- or mishandled -- Jordan's reversal. Cuban retaliated with a stinging remark about Rivers, trying to soften the blow a bit during his response.

"I think the most interesting thing is it shows you what someone will do when their entire future is vanishing in front of them," Cuban said. "And that's exactly what Doc did, and I give him credit for it.

"His professional life was over ... if he didn't get D.J."

Rivers had said that Cuban didn't handle Jordan's change of heart well.

"He acted very silly," Rivers said. "Look at the difference. I coached D.J. D.J. didn't call me when he left (and originally committed to Dallas). Did you see me out in front of the cameras screaming and yelling and crying? I didn't do that. I was disappointed. I was disappointed internally, and I handled it that way. Mark tends to do things out in the open, and that's fine. When you take shots at D.J., the guy you loved two days ago and now you don't like so much, anymore. Basically, all that did was it told D.J. even more that he made the right choice."

The Clippers are considered just a notch below the Warriors, Spurs and Cavaliers as favorites to win the 2015-16 championship. But their regular-season games against the Mavs might be must-see TV.
