CM Punk and AJ Lee used to appear on the small screen weekly for the WWE, but now they'll take the big stage by storm in a theatre near you.

The former WWE Superstar and Diva, who tied the knot last June, are set to co-star in "Hellstorm," an action-horror movie, according to MBNNews.

"After the collapse of the world's financial system and a devastating world war," the movie's plot reads, " a group of mismatched survivors are forced to band together and battle a variety of unexplainable and horrific beasts that descend on their tiny makeshift community."

It's unknown what role Punk and Lee will have in the movie, but there are a lot of familiar names involved in it and the shooting of the film begins in Ohio in mid-November. Mat Fraser ("American Horror Story"), Colleen Camp ("American Hustle"), Selene Luna ("My Bloody Valentine"), Kate Hodge ("Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III") and Brian Goff ("BorderCross") are all slated to be a part of the movie.

Sting's 56; Why The Hell Is He Still Wrestling?

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Lee after she retired from the WWE following WrestleMania 31 in March. It appears filiming a movie is yet another step in her direction to distance herself from the company. The three-time Divas Champion left after WWE doctor Chris Amann filed a libel lawsuit against Punk and his friend and wrestler Colt Cabana for defaming the physician's character.

Punk had appeared on Cabana's "Art of Wrestling" podcast and claimed Dr. Amann misdiagnosed him on several occasions, which included labeling a staph infection the "Best in the World" had as a fatty deposit. The former WWE Champion also claimed that he sustained a concussion at the 2015 Royal Rumble and that Dr. Amann tried to sweep it under the rug.

The Royal Rumble was Punk's final night with the company before storming out.

After Punk's comments, Dr. Amann countered swiftly with a lawsuit and it has entered the discovery phase of the proceedings after Punk and Cabana's lawyer's efforts to throw the case out was denied by a judge.

Lee hasn't wrestled for any promotions since leaving the WWE and it's unknown if she'll ever return. Her record 295-day reign as Divas Champion has since been surpassed by Nikki Bella, who dropped the belt to Charlotte this past Sunday on her 301st day as title-holder.

As for Punk, he's currently training for his UFC debut, which is expected to come in early 2016.

They may not be in the squared circle anymore, but fans can catch Punk and Lee on the big screen when "Hellstorm" eventually gets released.
