Johnny Manziel is getting the nod for the Browns in Week 2 against the Titans after relieving injured starter Josh McCown last week against the Jets. McCown suffered a concussion when he dove for a touchdown, got helicoptered by two Jets defenders, and fumbled for a touchback.

Manziel entered the game and threw a beautiful touchdown pass, but proceeded to commit three turnovers in a 31-10 loss. Manziel had moments when he looked like an improved product, but also showed some questionable decision-making, and a lack of awareness in the pocket.

Manziel under center makes a big difference than if McCown was, so here are the players who will benefit from having Johnny Football in there, and the ones who will suffer.

It’s Good News For…

Isaiah Crowell, RB: Running backs tend to benefit from mobile quarterbacks because it doesn’t allow the linebackers and safeties the luxury of keying on one player. Crowell is not elite, nor is he particularly elusive, so he could use the help. Manziel isn’t the rushing monster of his Texas A&M days – NFL defenders are way too fast for that – but he still can make plays on the ground.

Gary Barnidge, TE: Young quarterbacks use their tight ends as safety blankets; just look at how Tampa Bay rookie Jameis Winston turned Austin Seferian-Jenkins into an overnight sensation. Barnidge is far from ASJ, but a TD is in play for daily fantasy players aiming for a cheap option.

Duke Johnson, RB: Johnson is Cleveland’s receiving back, and he will also be a safety valve for Manziel. Cleveland will be keeping the playbook and the reads simple, so if Manziel’s first option is covered he’ll be looking for checkdowns.

It Hurts…

Andrew Hawkins, WR: The passing game is going to suffer with Manziel at the helm because he can’t be trusted to make too many reads. Because of Hawkins’ size, he sometimes requires creative methods so he can get the ball, and with Manziel under center he won’t be able to execute.
Brian Hartline, WR: Hartline is not explosive, and at this point in his career relies on volume for production. Manziel at QB will decrease the pass attempts, leaving Hartline as an extremely weak FLEX option in deep leagues.
