As the popularity of daily fantasy apps such as FanDuel and Draft Kings explodes, it’s become increasingly important to find bargains each week in the football tournaments. One of the ways to load up your squad is to pick cheap defenses with great matchups.

Here are five of those nicely-priced defenses.

Top 5 Week 2 FLEX Options

Texans (FanDuel/$4,600, Draft Kings/$2,900)

The Texans D didn’t live up to the hype in Week 1, but this matchup is cake for them. Carolina’s offensive line is nothing special, and so it should be eaten alive by J.J. Watt, the greatest living defensive football player in the universe. The Texans are expected to unleash 2014 No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney on more snaps as well, which should give Cam Newton a headache.

The sacks will be there, and the Panthers have no wide receivers, so a shutout is really in play. That’s not a prediction, but I will say I’m confident that the Panthers’ output will be low.

Week 2 Waiver Wire Pickup Advice

Eagles (FanDuel/$4,300, Draft Kings/$2,700)

Philadelphia’s D clamped down in the second half of their Monday Night game against the Falcons, and picked off QB Matt Ryan twice. That’s the appeal of Philly’s D/ST; you’re not plugging them in to pitch a shutout, you’re banking on turnovers each week, with the possibility of one getting taken to the house. Darren Sproles as an explosive punt returner doesn’t hurt either.

Patriots (FanDuel/$4,300, Draft Kings/$2,900)

Rookie quarterbacks vs. Bill Belichick defenses tends to be a lopsided matchup. Bills QB Tyrod Taylor isn’t a rookie, but he has the experience of one. Belichick is known for taking away what an offense does best, so that likely means loading up to stop RB LeSean McCoy. It’s highly doubtful that Taylor can avoid being confused by Belichick’s schemes and turning the ball over a few times.

Falcons (FanDuel/$4,100, Draft Kings/$2,700)

The Falcons are super cheap and were flying around the field on Monday night against the Eagles in their first game under new coach Dan Quinn. The Giants could light them up, but they spent a bunch of their opener looking out of sync, and their late-game miscommunications signal a problem that could take several weeks to sort out.

Redskins (FanDuel/$4,100, Draft Kings/$2,700)

This is fairly high-risk, but the Redskins were better than you think against the run last season, and they stifled Lamar Miller in their opener. The Rams don’t have incredible weapons in the passing game, so even though the ‘Skins don’t excel against the pass, St. Louis isn’t particularly equipped to make them pay.
