Fantasy owners who sunk a first-round pick into Broncos running back C.J. Anderson might be getting worried that they've made a terrible mistake. It's still early in the season, but Anderson's owners need to start trying to grab Ronnie Hillman.

Last night was a foreseeable disaster if you own Anderson. He was questionable with a toe injury, and even though it was made clear he'd play, the Thursday night game only gave him three days to heal up. That was never going to be enough time, especially against a stout Chiefs defense.

Denver Broncos Fantasy Preview

On top of the injury, the Broncos' offensive line has been very bad through the first two games. It is full of inexperienced players, and they haven't been helped by going up against two brutal front-sevens. Even with all that working against him, two straight games of 12 carries and fewer than 30 yards is inexcusable.

In Week 1 Hillman also got 12 carries, and totaled 41 yards. Thursday night, he picked up 34 yards on nine carries. Hillman has passed the eye test in both games, and has shown effectiveness in the past in the passing game. It is worth noting that last season when Montee Ball faltered, Hillman was the first name called.

Call Off The Funeral Procession For Peyton Manning

He started four games last year, and in the only two games in which he was given 20 carried, he topped 100 yards in both, and also caught three passes both times. He only lost his job to Anderson because of injury, and Anderson performing well in his own opportunity.

The important thing to remember is that aside from a late-season stretch of solid play, Anderson does not have a track record of being a bell cow back. If he puts forth another effort like this, the very best he will be able to hope for is an even split of the workload with Hillman, if not a situation with the scales tipped in Hillman's favor.

If Hillman is still available on waiver wires it's time for Anderson owners to spend a healthy amount of their budget to get him. If not, figure out a trade now before Hillman's value spikes.
