Recap: The U.S. women’s national team continued to milk their World Cup success on Thursday, defeating Haiti 5-0.
Originally scheduled to face Australia -- who was forced to cancel due to a labor dispute -- the USWNT flexed their proverbial muscle just six minutes into the match. A clinical header from Carli Lloyd opened the affair. Entering the second half on a hat-trick, the 33-year-old would find it in the 69th minute.
Crystal Dunn sealed the 5-0 victory in stoppage time.

Key Moment: A four minute stretch from Christen Press forced the issue for the United States. After drawing a penalty in the 33rd minute -- subsequently buried by Lloyd -- Press pushed the lead to an insurmountable 3-0 in the blink of an eye.
Woman of the Match: Another hat-trick for Lloyd, another Woman of the Match award.
This is @CarliLloyd’s 4th career hat trick. She’s had two this year. We think you know what the other one was… pic.twitter.com/HlCxrAkPWh

Lesson Learned: Aren’t the NWSL playoffs taking place? Aren’t FC Kansas City battling the Seattle Reign for the league title in two weeks time? Wasn’t the Women’s World Cup supposed to be a springboard for the NWSL?
In theory, that was the plan. What’s transpired instead is an unnecessary victory tour -- one that will provide zero substance having faced CONCACAF minnows -- that delayed the end of the NWSL season for no reason. The 2015 World Cup is over. The NWSL season isn’t.
It’s time women’s soccer got its priorities straight. Undressing Haiti in a meaningless friendly isn't growing the game.
Up Next: The two will regrettably meet in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday for a rematch.
