Nikki Bella officially became longest-reigning Divas Champion of all-time when the clock struck midnight Tuesday, now it's time for her reign to end.

Bella has been on top of the division since the Survivor Series in November, a record reign of 296 days, as she officially passed AJ Lee (295) for the longest time atop the Divas ranks.

3 Possible Feuds For Jeff Hardy If He Returns To WWE

The WWE booked a match between Bella and Charlotte, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair's daughter, for Monday Night RAW this week as the Team PCB member attempted to thwart the Team Bella leader's chances of surpassing Lee.

Predictably, the match ended in a no-decision with The Bella Twins using Twin Magic, leading to Charlotte pinning Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon ruling the result a disqualification. Now, the rematch is on for Night of Champions this Sunday night at the Toyota Center in Houston.

Best Bouts For Each Title In WWE Night Of Champions History

When the smoke clears Sunday night, a new era should be reigned in with Charlotte as champion and here are three reasons why.

1) Finish Line Of The Race To 300

It was expected that Bella would surpass Lee's reign after the Diva decided to retire due to the ongoing turmoil between her husband CM Punk and the WWE. It was also always presumed that Bella would at least get to 300 days to reach a milestone with the gold. When the bell rings Sunday at Night of Champions, Bella will be on Day 301 of her reign, securing the new record and then some.

Now that the record is complete and the race to 300 is over, it's time for a change.

2) Superior Athlete

No offense to Bella as she's improved greatly over the years and can go with the best of them, but Charlotte's in-ring prowess is a step above and it's time for her to be rewarded for it by winning the gold. Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch all burst onto the main roster scene at the same time and brought with them skill sets that separate them from the rest of the pack.

Charlotte was the second NXT Women's Champion in history after she won an eight woman tournament to capture the vacant gold at NXT Takeover last May and she had a solid run with the gold, holding it for 258 days. If Charlotte can capture the Divas Championship and then have a feud with Banks, it could make for some compelling storylines.

3) Real Divas Revolution

The WWE has been touting the Divas Revolution for months, but aside from the new talent being brought into the fold, there hasn't been much change. The Divas Championship has remained on Bella and the ladies are still getting lumped into multi-person matches at pay-per-views. The real revolution appeared to begin in NXT where Charlotte, Banks, Lynch and Bayley became the Four Horsewomen and put the division on the map.

There was hope when the new trio came up that things would change in the division, but NXT is continuously out-shining the main roster. That trend continued with the Bayley vs. Banks clash from NXT Takeover: Brooklyn last month, which is a Match of the Year contender. If the WWE wants to really show change in the division, it can start booking the Divas differently and more seriously. The ball could begin rolling with a new champion on top at Night of Champions.
