Joe Flacco Appearance Angers Denver Broncos Fans: Banners of Baltimore Ravens' QB Pop Up All Over Mile High City

Memo to the NFL: You might want to consult with, or at least warn, an NFL city if you're planning on putting up a banner of a rival quarterback on the outside of its stadium.

Denver Broncos fans weren't exactly thrilled when they saw banners of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco throughout the downtown of the Mile High City.

The banners were up as a promotional campaign by the NFL to kick off the 2013 season between the Ravens and Broncos.

Flacco and the Ravens defeated Denver 38-35 in double overtime of their AFC Divisional Round playoff game last season. The Broncos seemingly had the game won in regulation until Flacco fired a 70-yard touchdown bomb to Jacoby Jones to force overtime.

On Change.org, a petition started by a man using the handle "Broncos Nation" has asked the NFL to take down the banner.

"How dare the NFL put a giant, 40-foot poster of Joe Flacco on our Mile High Stadium," the message read. "How dare they! AND you plastered 16th Street Mall with Flacco banners? I will not stand for this grave injustice! We must join forces as Broncos fans, nay, as *Broncos Country* to put an end to these most audacious and detestable acts. Send a message to the NFL by signing this most sacred change.org petition."

The petition itself read:

"To:

Roger Goodell, @nflcommish, National Football League

Take the Joe Flacco signage off my Mile High Stadium! Get it out of my Mile High City! Broncos Nation will not endure this detestable and audacious act. Who in their right mind thought that we would just let this fly?! We stand united against your unbearable Joe Flacco signage.

Sincerely,

[Your name]"

According to the Baltimore Sun, Vanessa Park tweeted: "The fact that there are Joe Flacco posters on the 16th Street Mall is just unbelievable. Marketing fail by the NFL. Way to make people angry."

Another Broncos fan named Rachel Nicole wrote: "Why in the hell are there Joe Flacco posters all over downtown Denver? Pretty sure he's one of the most hated people in this city."
