This is the 42nd time the two meet in their careers. Federer leads the head-to-head by the slimmest of margins, 21-20. In this calendar year, however, it’s Djokovic who leads the head-to-head, with victories at Wimbledon, Indian Wells and Rome.

For Federer, there’s no need to deploy tactics ahead of Sunday’s final. It’s the truest form of competition around.
“It's been more straightforward. That's what I like about the rivalry,” he said, per SI.com. “I don't know how it is for him, but I feel like he doesn't need to adjust his game as much, either. I think it's just a straight shootout, and I think that's the cool thing about our rivalry. It's very athletic.”
Djokovic can’t even be disturbed with any talk of a rivalry. The 28-year-old is concerned with one thing and one thing only: a win.
“Obviously I'm only thinking about winning and winning that U.S. Open trophy. It's why I'm here, and I will try to make it.”
