Just when things couldn't get worse for head coach Jay Gruden, president Bruce Allen went out of his way to ensure it did.

Just 11 days prior, Gruden went out of his way to declare Kirk Cousins the team's starter for the entire 2015 season.

Didn't Take Long For The Patriots To Be Accused Of Cheating Again

"When it's all said and done, after all the film we've gone through, after all the offseason activity, all the training camp footage, we feel like at this time, Kirk Cousins gives us the best chance to win and that's where we're going," Gruden said, per NFL.com. "It's Kirk's team."

"Kirk has done an outstanding job," he said. "Robert has done some great things no question, we have total faith in all three of them. But moving forward, with all the things we've studied over the course of training camp and OTAs, we just feel like Kirk has earned the right to be the starting quarterback for 2015."

Randle Will Start In Big D, Not McFadden

That rubbish was easy to sell when RG3 wasn't cleared to play and able to push for a starting role. When Cousins fails -- and he inevitably will based on his career 77.5 QB rating -- questions will be asked of Gruden. Critics will wonder why a healthy RG3 is not taking snaps under center.

His last two years of "production" should suffice in answering those questions, but there is still faith -- blind faith -- in the 2012 Rookie of the Year.

Allen went out of his way to remind you of that on Friday.
