Lionel Messi welcomed his second child into the world on Friday, per Mirror. His long-term girlfriend, Antonella Roccuzzo, gave birth to their son Mateo in Barcelona.
Roccuzzo and Messi were already the parents of one potential soccer prodigy. Their first-born son, Thiago, came into the world on Nov. 2, 2012. But they're not the only ones with the necessary DNA to birth soccer's newest star.
Below are three power couples who are in a position to do the same.
Dom Dwyer and Sydney Leroux
One is an MLS Cup champion, the other is World Cup champion. There's not a better soccer pairing imaginable.
Dwyer plies his trade in Major League Soccer with Sporting Kansas City. The 25-year-old has 35 goals in 78 career appearances with the club, providing his future son the perfect finishing touch. Not to be outdone, Leroux has 35 goals of her own on the international level with the U.S. women's national team.
Jay DeMerit and Ashleigh McIvor
DeMerit was a European-caliber center-back for most of his career. The 35-year-old spent six seasons with Watford, seeing them promoted to the first division in 2006. His wife, Ashleigh McIvor, is equally as polished.
The freestyle skier won a gold medal at the 2009 World Ski Championships, and followed that up with another gold performance at the 2010 Olympic games.

Zach Ertz and Julie Johnston
Consider this a different kind of football connection. Zach Ertz was drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. In 2015, he was nicknamed Julie Johnston's husband.
Johnston was an integral part of the USWNT's World Cup run in Canada. Yet to enter the prime of her career, the 23-year-old will have ample opportunities to become the face of American soccer.
