Bill Simmons may just be a little too excited about the return of the NFL.

Yes, most Americans are giddy this time of year as the Patriots prepare to host the Steelers on Thursday in the first regular season game of the 2015 schedule, but the sports guy is taking it to a different level. Simmons took to Instagram to share a screen shot of a bet he placed on the Patriots-Steelers and Packers-Bears games, to the tune of $110 million.

It appears he's looking to break the bank and it's only Week 1.

The Packers (-120) are favorites over the Bears when the two NFC North rivals clash in Chicago at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, while the Patriots (-115) are favored over the Steelers when the ball is snapped at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Thursday night. Simmons is obviously confident in both of them.

Simmons joked in his Instagram post that he "might have put too much money on this 2-team teaser," but if the gamble pays off for him, he could win $100 million.

The screen shot does point out that Simmons hasn't hit the "place bet" button yet, so he could back out of the move if he comes to his senses. He's always been known as a wild-card, so the potential remains for him to stick to his guns and live on the edge.

Aside from betting, Simmons will be plenty busy soon. The former Grantland editor in chief recently inked a television deal with HBO that is believed to be in the neighborhood of $6 million -- a fraction of what he'd be wagering on that bet.

Simmons also revealed that his podcast will return in October with a new name as his former employer ESPN owns the rights to the "B.S. Report."

It's possible with so much free time on his hands after being dismissed from ESPN Simmons has lost his mind, or maybe he's a genius who is about to be $100 million richer.
