Perhaps Urban Meyer, like most people, fears Ronda Rousey.

Right after the reigning UFC women's bantamweight champion publicly supported Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones to move up on the team's depth chart to start the college football season, the head coach started him under center Sunday in the Buckeyes 42-24 victory over Virginia Tech.

Holly Holm Never Considered Turning Down Fight With Ronda Rousey

Jones, who said he has a crush and a fear of Rousey in the past, got a public vote of confidence from the UFC fighter leading up to the season-opener.

"If I was the coach at Ohio State, I would pick Cardale Jones as the starting quarterback," Rousey said, according to ESPN. "Just saying."

'Ronda ArouseMe' Porn Trailer Released, 'Rowdy' Not Offended

Jones has hit up Rousey on Twitter in the past to share with her that he had a crush on her, and after she finally realized he tweeted at her, "Rowdy" called him "very sweet." The quarterback definitely has a thing for the UFC star as he authored a series of tweets to her before she responded.

On the gridiron, Jones finished 9-for-18 on Sunday for 186 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the victory. In 2014, he appeared in 56 games and was 56 of 92 (60.9 percent) for 860 yards with seven scores and two picks.

Now that Rousey has supported Jones, there's no doubt that the signal caller will have her back when she takes on Holly Holm at UFC 193 on Nov. 11 in Australia.

Jones may be pining for Rousey, but he has to get in line as his main competition is a marine stationed out of North Carolina, who has a date with the UFC fighter at the Marine Corps Ball.
