The Wolverines may have lost, but their fans were feeling generous when it was time to pay their bill.

After Michigan dropped its season-opener, 24-17, to Utah in Jim Harbaugh's much-anticipated coaching debut Thursday, Wolverines fans left their waitress $3,000, according to Bleacher Report.

The generous tip was given to a waitress named Breanne and along with the grand gratuity, the patrons wrote the Instagram handle @TipsForJesus along with the hashtag #GoBlue on the receipt. Breanne posted a picture of herself posing with the receipt and she also added a close-up of it on Instagram.

While the Michigan fans were in good spirits after the loss, it was undoubtedly a rough start to the season for the Wolverines.

Michigan didn't find the end zone until the third quarter as the team continues to adjust under the new Harbaugh regime. The team next takes on Oregon State (1-0) on Saturday at noon. It could be a tough year of adjustments for the Wolverines, so the generosity of their fan base may waver by the time the campaign comes to a close

Hopefully the fans have deep enough pockets to carry on after tough losses.
