What They're Saying

Chile head coach Jorge Sampaoli on the omission of Arturo Vidal, per Telegrafo: "Vidal told me he had personal problems and I said that any player that's not 100 percent focused, and has any kind of issues, can tend to them instead of playing. I'm not in control of anything. I have respect and believe in my players."

Paraguay head coach Ramon Diaz on the job Sampaoli has done with Chile, per 24horas: "He's brought them to a higher level. When he took over, Chile weren't in good condition. In his little time at the helm, he's taken them to a World Cup and won the Copa America. They're a very competitive team. I congratulate him and his team."
