With all eyes on Jason Day, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth, it was Brendon de Jonge who enjoyed success in the opening round of the 2015 Deutsche Bank Championship. A 65 gave the 35-year-old a two-stroke lead.
Consistent putting this weekend will see him land a top-10 finish for the first time since the Shell Houston Open.
The top 10, however, will be out of reach for Spieth.
The two-time major champion followed his cut at The Barclays with a paltry round of 75. Bogeying three of his first five holes, he never recovered. McIlroy fared a better, but could still only manage an opening round of 71.

It was Day who enjoyed the most success of the big three. A 3-under 68 leaves him within distance of de Jonge.
"I'm putting some good rolls on it and then reading the putts is obviously key," Day said, per PGATour.com. "Over the last seven weeks my speed has been fantastic, that's why I'm rolling putts in. I can go in and fully believe and trust that the line I'm picking is correct."
