Ed Sheeran stepped right up to meet the Mets -- and he wasn't alone.

Sheeran attended Citi Field in Queens, N.Y. Wednesday along with a childhood friend, which has led to some speculation that she's his new girlfriend, according to the Daily Mail. The English musician, who certainly looked cheery at the ballpark, labeled his love life as "non-existent" since a split from his ex-girlfriend Athina Andrelos in March.

Per the site, the girl that Sheeran was spotted with at the game and leaving a New York hotel with on Sunday is his high school friend Cherry Seaborn.

Seaborn is a 2013 Durham University graduate and reportedly just reconnected with the "Thinking Out Loud" artist. Seaborn moved to New York to attend Duke University and it is believed that she works as an advisory consultant at Deloitte & Touche LLP in New York.

It's fitting that the couple took in a ballgame as Seaborn has a rich background in sports, leading her hockey team to back-to-back British University championships in 2012 and 2013, according to The Daily Mail. The Brit also won a bronze medal at the European Championships in 2012 and was a part of England's under-21 national team.

Sheeran, 24, was recently linked to Irish model Louise Johnston, but he quashed rumors that they were an item despite photos of the two hanging out surfacing on Instagram. The musician was seen smiling and posing for photos with fans Wednesday night, likely due to the girl he was with or the fact that he reportedly doubled his earnings in the last year.

Speaking on the Capital London's Breakfast Show in July, Sheeran had labeled his love-life as "non-existent" and said he wasn't "in anything right now."

"My relationship ended and then the day after it ended I was in the Middle East, Asia, South America, New Zealand - I was just gone and in my mind I had no time to settle with it," he said via the Daily Mail. "So I was just working, working, working...So yeah I'm still kind of in that space, I'm still in my working space. I haven't really had time to sit back and re-evaluate personal life, because I don't really have a personal life."

Sheeran and Seaborn were all smiles on Wednesday and with the couple donning Mets hats, they likely went home happy as New York downed Philadelphia, 9-4.
