Bubba Watson, Zach Johnson, Henrik Stenson, Jason Dufner and Tony Finau were all near the top of the leaderboard on Friday. On Saturday, all five saw Jason Day and Sang-Moon Bae grab a share of the lead.
For Bae, it's a bittersweet moment in his career. A victory will see him climb to the top 10 of the International Team standings for The Presidents Cup. The jump will allow him to be eligible for the event, but the South Korean must return home when his playoffs are over to serve a mandatory two-year stint in the military.
There are doubts the Korean government will even allow him to compete in The Presidents Cup being held in Seoul, something Bae desperately wants.
"I don't think about it anymore actually," he said, per PGATour.com. "I have to go back, so that is a few weeks later. So I just want to play good golf this week, and really want to play Presidents Cup in my country.
"I hope to play well tomorrow and Mr. Nick Price can pick me up."
