Turns out, Jordan Spieth is human after all. The current world No. 1 missed his first cut in more than three months Friday at The Barclays. To add insult to injury, Spieth will also lose his spot atop the Official World Golf Rankings on Monday.
The Barclays Round 1 Recap and Highlights
Rory McIlroy, who wasn't even in attendance at Plainfield Country Club, will move back to No. 1.
"Yeah, tough week," said Spieth, per PGATour.com. "I'm definitely searching for answers. I don't know exactly what I'm going to do from here as far as how I get prepared for next week, but I have some time to figure it out. We don't start till Friday."
Spieth exits the tournament at 7-over par, five strokes off the cut line.
In brighter news, Bubba Watson managed to separate himself from the field and will enter the weekend with a one-stroke lead. Zach Johnson, Henrik Stenson, Jason Dufner and Tony Finau are all tied for second.
