Position Battles To Watch
Dolphins: Finding Reshad Jones' opposite number in the Dolphins secondary is now down to Walt Aikens and Michael Thomas. Aikens worked with the starters Wednesday following Delmas' injury and was already viewed as Delmas' long-term replacement. Thomas will have his opportunity to decelerate that timetable.
Browns Stubborn Not To Start Johnny Manziel
Panthers: The injury to Kelvin Benjamin has opened the door for a few rookies on Carolina's roster. Head coach Ron Rivera told reporters the team could end up carrying six or seven receivers when camp breaks, per Panthers.com. Ted Ginn Jr., Jerricho Cotchery, Corey Brown and Devin Funchess can each claim one of the six or seven aforementioned spots. Presumably two remain, making it a numbers game for rookies Damiere Byrd, Avius Capers and Paul Browning.
Performance To Examine
Ted Ginn Jr. was drafted by the Dolphins in 2007, and regrettably so. The former No. 9 overall pick played just three seasons in Miami, finishing with a paltry five touchdowns. After spending last season with the Cardinals, Ginn Jr. returns to Carolina. In 2013, his only season with the Panthers, he posted a single-season career-high five TDs.
